Gathered at the biker’s Mecca that was the transformed ski town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Southern Germany, visitors from around the world enjoyed a stunning event courtesy of BMW Motorrad. At the three-day event, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the mighty Zugspitz Mountains, spectators were treated with back-to-back highlights that entertained all comers well into the night over the course of the event.
This was the 17th Motorrad event, and every year the action exceeds expectation. Visitors saw some incredible BMW models, some current and some still in development. One highlight was the breathtaking display of BMW’s R 25 motorcycle as four of them entered the Motodrom spinning drum.
More than 40,000 international visitors attended the event and BMW Motorrad is already planning next year’s event for July 2018. No doubt all of those who witnessed the 2017 Motorrad days have already made a note on their calendars, possibly with the sound of screeching wheels and roaring engines still ringing in their ears!
Perhaps the most thrilling part of the event was the stunt riding, with freestyle stunt artists seemingly defying the laws of physics to deliver an ultra-high caliber show. The stunt performers were Sarah Lezito and Mattie Griffin of France and Ireland respectively and viewers were amazed to see the extent of their skills that included wheelies and rolling stops, backward burnout, front flips and bike-surfing.
