BMW’s recently unveiled K1600B motorcycle takes the German bikemaker in a distinctly American direction.
Modeled after the highly-customized cruiser baggers usually seen sporting domestic badges, the BMW K 1600 B has a low-slung rear without a top case, aerodynamic side cases, a blunted nose fairing and sleek windscreen. Robust exhaust silencers extend to an angled tip, stylishly mirroring the rear bags and accentuating the wind-swept, flowing look of the bike’s rear.
The beauty of this BMW motorcycle, however, is more than skin deep. Beneath the sculpted fairings, you’ll find the tried-and-true BMW inline-six that puts out 160 horsepower. That power and the reclined positioning of the BMW K1600B will make long-distance cruising more than comfortable enough for long stretches of the American highway.
Other features that add to the long-haul comfort of the K1600B are the electronically controlled Dynamic ESA chassis with two drive modes and the Shift Assistant Pro. Choose between “Road” or “Cruise” mode, depending on road conditions and speed, to adjust your bike’s damping and to maximize comfort and road traction. The optional Shift Assistant Pro can take the clutch lever out of the equation when shifting gears, allowing the rider to better focus on the long road ahead.
