Motorrad Magazine names BMW S 1000 RR, S 1000 XR and more as “Motorcycle of the Year”

BMW Motorrad was awarded nine trophies at the recent Motorrad magazine “Motorcycle of the Year” awards.

Riders spoke loud and clear this month in Stuttgart, Germany, when readers of German motorcycling magazine Motorrad chose four BMW motorcycles as “Motorcycle of the Year” in its 19th annual awards vote. BMW Motorrad won a total of nine trophies, with top honors in Sports Bikes, Touring/Sport-Touring Bikes, Crossovers and Modern Classics categories.

With 208 motorcycles in the running for the awards, competition was stiff, and BMW Motorrad leadership was proud to accept awards as voted on by nearly 50,000 riders for some of their top-selling motorcycles including the BMW S 1000 RR and the R 1200 RS.

“Once again I am pleased with the outstanding result our motorcycles achieved and would like to thank the Motorrad readers warmly for their vote. Nine podium places are a strong validation for the width of our BMW Motorrad rage,” said Stephan Schaler, director of BMW Motorrad.

BMW S 1000 RR named “Motorcycle of the Year” in Sports Bike Category

The BMW S 1000 RR, BMW’s iconic superbike, won the “Motorcycle of the Year” distinction for the third year in a row, further cementing its position as the top sportbike on the market.
